Hi all. This is my first attempt at a qmail toaster install. I've used qmailrocks.org successfully.

This error is showing up in /var/log/mail/submit/current:

Refusing to start SMTP listener because it'll create an open relay
No /var/qmail/control/rcpthosts!

(There are two long numbers before these lines, and these lines repeat seemingly infinitely.)

Here is my /var/qmail/control/rcpthosts:
culby2.com

Here is a line from /var/log/smtp/current:

CHKUSER rejected relaying: from <#@[]::> remote <mail.culby2.com:unknown:192.168.11.1> rcpt <postmaster@mail.culby2.com> : client not allowed to relay

My domain is culby2.com, and I seem to have the MX records setup alright. I'm running this on a fresh (jailed) FreeBSD 6.1. Any ideas?

Yes, you do have MX records created, but they aren't valid.

IntelliBigMac:~ matt$ dig culby2.com. mx +short

IntelliBigMac:~ matt$ dig +short culby2.com.

culby2.com. does not resolve to anything, and thus is an invalid MX. This will cause your problems.

Those two lines would have repeated for a long time, until you got around to adding a domain to the system. I presume you created the domain using something like ~vpopmail/bin/vadddomain culby2.com, right?

Clients should not be allowed to relay by default. That is something  you must specifically enable for your IP space.
