Hello.

Someone closed of the replies to Raybdbomb, but guess what, I have the same issue. Perhaps I will be more in depth. Toaster v4.01 Mail is apparently being handed to simscan, and seems to be checked by spamd and clamav, as toaster_setup -s filtertest catches the virii and spam. But headers show no modification.

See No X-Spam status! So how will it be filtered later?
Mail-toaster.conf has been set to tcpserver or SMTP, both work equally bad!

Addem: I suspect that Simscan is doing its job, and rejecting spam outright at the SMTP connection. BUT, not adding the SPAM headers. In the FAQs for SIMSCAN, it indicates that you do not enable per domain if you want pass thru, but this IS enabled by default in the configuration, regardless of toaster-watcher According to Matt's info and diagram, if there are no SPAM headers, Maildrop should pass to Spam assassin, if Spam filtering enabled in qmailadmin (it is, .qmail correct))BUT there is no mechanoism I can see in mailfilter to do so!

I thought I would share the fix, as there have been many views of this post.

First toaster-watcher.conf needs to have filtering_spamassassin_method set to user AND toaster_setup.pl -s maildrop run again, to rebuild maildrop to send the mail off to spamassassin. (thanks to Matt and the maillist for this clue)

PS. If SIMSCAN didnt even look at the mail, smtpd_qmail_queue needs to have SIMSCAN in it, not qmail_queue

However its STILL not scanning mail!!!

Looking at the maillogs tail -f /var/log/maillog shows: spamd[56284]: unauthorized connection from 192.168.1.2 at port xxxx

man spamd shows the flag -A 192.168.1.2 to allow an IP to send thru spamd. Added this flag to the others in /etc/rc.conf automagically fixed the issue!
