rblsmtpd frozen?

My new toaster is freezing incoming SMTP with 10 copies of rblsmtpd running.  10 is the maximum number of connections on the tcpserver running SMTP, this I know.  What I can't figure out is why they are frozen.  I have added a -t timeout to my rblsmtpd command.  I have tried testing the blacklists manually and they seem to work.  I have changed my rblsmtpd from fail closed to fail open.  I'm not sure what else I can do here.  I've temporarily added a killall command to cron to keep things from freezing up again, but obviously that's not an optimal solution.  Any ideas?

I should add, that my rblsmtpd works most of the time before these random freezes start happening.  It functions normally, and successfully blocks email senders.

What makes you think the behaviour you are seeing is not "normal"?  Perhaps you should do some research on rblsmtpd and find out exactly what is happening. Perhaps it's not frozen at all and is behaving "normally".
