Title: Moving old mail
Post by: darsys on August 05, 2004, 09:05:51 AM
I had a mail server that was having lots of issues.  It had been migrated to the toaster but was just not stable so I reinstalled os and toaster.  The old mail was backed up (using rsync) and I thought it would be relativetly easy to bring the mail back.  My thoughts were to get new server up, recreate the accounts then copy mail files back over, even if i had to do it one by one (i was desperate).  I have created one account and am now trying to move mail files back with no success.  For old mail that was in the inbox was 'redated' to when i move the mail files.  Second the folders show up that i had before but do not have any mail in them.  The .subfolder dir is there.

Any suggestions or opions about how I might best accomplish this?

Sorry to have clutterd the list.

The problem was permissions.  The files i transferred were owned by root (because of the transfer).  i changed owner to vpopmail:vchkpw and the mail was visible via imap.
