Post by: jln on June 22, 2004, 07:05:56 AM

Title: SMTP or SNMP?

If its SNMP (like rrdutil is timing out) check your rrdutil.conf for a line like "snmp_timeout" I had to up mine quit a bit to get anything usefull under load.

If its SMTP then check toaster-watcher.conf for "smtpd_max_connections". But understand the balance between that, smtpd_max_memory_per_connection and smtpd_max_memory. It shouldnt be too bad if your box is dropping connections under peak load. Good behaved mail servers should just defer that mail and try again in a few hours until its accepted or the message times out.
It might not make make much differencnce until customers notice a significant number of messages being delayed.
